The birth, death, and marriage facts lovingly written in family bibles are true treasures – and sometimes the only record of long-ago family events. To help keep those records alive and make them available to researchers, the Kentucky Genealogical Society launched a bible record project in 2015.
Volunteers have scanned, indexed and posted 47 family bible records.
If you would like to send scans you have taken, please see the two forms in the attachments. Complete them and send along with your scans. This gives the society permission to post your family bible records.
Notes: At the beginning of most PDFs is a scan of the bible's title page, which often includes the publication date. At the end are transcriptions of the scanned pages. Transcriptions can be helpful, because some of the images may not be clear. If a scan appears in a format that is too small to read or so large that side-to-side scrolling is required, click on the plus or minus sign in the toolbar to reduce or enlarge the images. Photos and family group sheets have been included with some of the bibles.
